In its first game of the season on Aug. 28, the Rush City volleyball team defeated Barnum 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-18) on the Tigers’ home court.
The team was 90 percent serving against the Bombers.
Summer Garr made five kills and five ace serves; Mackenzie Sherrill had five kills; Abby Scherer had two ace serves, four digs and a great night of passing, while Sierra Shrunk had 12 set assists.
“It was really nice getting a win to
start the season,” said Coach Eric Telander. “I was really happy for the girls tonight. We haven’t played a lot together yet, and it didn’t look like that last night. And I know some of our younger players were very anxious and nervous about their first varsity match. All in all, it was a nice win.”
