Harold and Anna Anderson have provided horse and buggy rides for the Karmel congregation for years and on Aug. 21 participants of Family Pathways Social Respite Gathering enjoyed the same treat. Gathering participants are older adults, 60 years or older, who are living independently and have a full-time caregiver.

Karmel Covenant Church has partnered with Family Pathways over the last four years to host social respite Gatherings. Senior citizens attend structured social time and their caregivers get some much-needed respite from the demands and stresses of full-time caregiving.

The Gatherings are held twice monthly in several communities: Braham, Dalbo, Lindstrom, and Pine City.

Adolph who has been attending the Gathering for many years said, “it was the trip of a lifetime.”  And, Doris, also a long time attendee, said “what an experience, I loved it, it made my day.”

To get more information or to volunteer at the Gathering please call Debbie at Family Pathways at 763-225-9277. Family Pathways Senior Services also provides Companionship, Advocacy and Educational programming for seniors Chisago, Isanti, Pine, Kanabec, and Mille Lacs counties. Family Pathways also provides Basic Life Services (Food Shelves) and Youth Services (Teen Centers).
