The Falls Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Eichten’s Market and Café of Center City has been selected as the September Business of the Month.
The Eichten Family has been making artisan cheeses since 1976 when they became the first farm in the United States to produce a value added product which eventually became a farmstead cheese plant operation.  The cheese of choice back then was a Dutch Gouda, produced just as on the farms in Holland.  Over the years they have won numerous awards for their cheeses.
Joe and Mary Eichten saw the need for an all natural healthy meat to compliment their natural cheeses and in 1987 their Gouda and Tilsit cheeses were joined by American Bison products.
You can see the bison eating the prairie grasses near the Market and Café on Hwy. 8, two miles east of Center City.
Their artisan premium quality cheeses are made right on the farm, with only the purest ingredients.  They add no coloring, artificial flavors, preservatives or genetically modified rennet.  All of their cow’s milk is free of growth hormones, antibiotics and rBGH.
Their cheese is handmade and their aging rooms are carefully monitored for precise temperatures and the cheese is turned daily for correct breathing and aging.
Eichten’s Café is open seven days a week for lunch and on Friday and Saturday evenings for dinner, plus Saturday and Sunday mornings for specialty breakfasts.
Visit them online at www.specialtycheese.com or in person at 16440 Lake Blvd., Center City, MN  55012.
