The Chisago SWCD is proud to announce Irv and Lorie Stolp of Taylors Falls as the 2012 Chisago Outstanding Conservationist.
The Stolps own and operate a beef cow/calf operation and raise corn, soybeans, small grains and alfalfa on their farm in east central Chisago County.
The family farm, which is located on the Anoka sand plain, incorporates numerous best management practices to conserve water and reduce wind erosion.
Practices include well managed field windbreaks, minimum tillage farming, and rotational grazing, to name a few.
Irv stresses that one can never stop learning and it is important to not be afraid to try something new on the farm.
The Chisago SWCD would like to thank the Stolps for making conservation an important part of their daily lives on the family farm.
