Viking girls soccer nets loss before shutout win

Before shutting out Columbia Heights 14-0 last week, the North Branch girls soccer team fell 7-1 to Irondale.

Sheralynn Linkert scored the only Viking goal off an assist by Mackenzie Brehm in the game against the Knights Sept. 18.

In the next match versus the Hylanders, Bayley Ertl scored four goals, while Jamie Salo put three in the back of the net and added one assist.

Emma Pignato scored three goals, and Alex Madsen put in two, while Maddie Tetzlaff and Ashley Richter tallied one apiece.

Kadie Mattson recorded two assists and Linkert added one.

The North Branch girls soccer team has a 3-3-1 North Suburban Conference and 6-3-2 overall record. The team will host the Fridley Tigers (2-8-1) at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 before hosting the Duluth Denfeld Hunters (5-4-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29. The Vikings will then host the St. Louis Park Orioles (4-6-1) at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2.
