Scarecrow sightings mean Fall Harvest
(Slideshow) Local businesses throughout town are once again displaying fun scarecrow scenes for the Fall Harvest Scarecrow Challenge, an event of North Branch Area Chamber’s 22nd Annual Fall Harvest Festival Sept. 26-30.
This year’s winner is Andersen Corporation, the chamber announced on Wednesday. (Note: photos in slideshow above only include a sampling of the entrants.)
The festival’s Treasure Hunt, complete with clues posted daily on this and the chamber’s websites, began on Wednesday. The winner will take home $250 from North Branch County Market and Domino’s pizza for a year. Be advised: the treasure had yet to be found as of Friday afternoon.
On Saturday, the public is invited to the Art, Craft and Commercial Fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Central Park. The Scarecrow Stampede 5K, along with 1-mile Scamper Fun Run/Walk, begins with registration at 9 a.m. with the race at 10 a.m at the Sunrise Prairie Trail.
Don’t miss the Classic Car Show (8 a.m. registration, trophies awarded at 2 p.m.) and Snowmobile & Motor Sports Swap from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at JJ’s Bowl & Lounge.
The festival concludes on Sunday with a variety of events including a performance by The Mystery Mountain Boys from 4-6:30 p.m. at Central Park.
