The Eagles volleyball team was sent home de-feathered 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-23) by the Tigers during Homecoming week last Thursday.
Alissa Mell slammed down six kills, while Summer Garr and Mackenzie Sherrill each hit four.
Jessica Bottomley scored three ace serves, Taylor Youngblom and Sherrill hit two, and Garr added one ace serve, while Youngblom made seven set assists.
“It was another nice conference win, Coach Eric Telander said. “We had quite a few days off since our last match, so I was happy with the way they performed. Unfortunately, in a couple of the sets we couldn’t close the door when we had significant leads, but, we can work on that.”
The Rush City volleyball team is 5-2 in the Great River Conference and 7-6 overall. The team will travel to Aitkin to face the Gobblers (9-5) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 before competing in a tournament at Braham High School beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. The Tigers will then travel to Hinckley-Finlayson High School in Hinckley to face the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8.
