Century College and the writers’ group Women of Words are offering a one-day workshop for aspiring writers Oct. 13, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the Century College East Campus Lincoln Mall.
The workshop will be filled with information about the basics of getting work published, plus tips on promotion, editing and speaking.
The workshop will begin with a keynote address from local children’s author and illustrator Nancy Carlson, who has had 60 books published. Amy Quale of Beaver’s Pond Press will explore the topic of eBooks, editor Connie Anderson will discuss the importance of editing, and several marketing and social media experts will explore available promotion options. In addition, attorney Aimee Bissonette will present legal issues related to contracts and collaborations that authors need to consider.
The workshop begins with a continental breakfast, and lunch is included. The cost for the day is $99. The workshop is open to anyone age 16 or over.
