An Edina man who was reportedly pulling a dock out of the St. Croix River in Taylor’s Falls Oct. 14 fell into the river and drowned, according to the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office.
When paramedics arrived around 11:30 a.m., the man, 52-year-old Steven Richard Labarron, had been pulled from the water and someone was attempting to perform CPR on him. Labarron was transported to an emergency room, but was pronounced dead at 1:54 p.m.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Labarron had been pulling the dock out of the water with a rope. The dock disconnected from the rope and struck Labarron in the head, causing him to tumble into the water.
