The North Branch Quarterback Club invites the community to join the high school and Vikings football program in supporting KARE 11’s Randy Shaver and his Tackle Cancer initiative.
One of the fundraiser’s big efforts will take place at Senior and Parents Night this evening (Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.) when North Branch laces up against Benilde-St. Margaret’s in the Vikings’ last regular season home game of the year. Fans on both sides of the field will be able to donate to the Twin Cities television personality’s Cancer Research Fund.
Students are getting involved, too, noted North Branch Quarterback Club member Tom Sundly. High school classrooms have been engaged in a coin donation challenge all week, while the middle school and Sunrise River School are attempting to raise more “change for change” than the high school.
More than 100 Minnesota schools have been raising money for the “Tackle Cancer” charity, which Shaver established to help fund local cancer research after his own trials with the disease. Now it’s North Branch’s turn to make a difference.
