Teams playing ball at Roger Johnson Memorial Park in North Branch next spring, summer and fall will have some shelter from the elements, thanks to Troop No. 411 Boy Scout Robby Osowski. For his Eagle Scout Project, Osowski, 16, a junior at North Branch Area High School, is building two dugouts at the park. He’s almost finished with the project.

“I started planning the project about a year ago,” Osowski said. “The budget was $2,700 – I raised half of that from local businesses and the city provided the other half.” Osowski’s father has a background in construction and was able to provide some pointers to his son, so the dugouts are expertly constructed and should be able to withstand a myriad of weather.

Osowski said he wanted to thank the North Branch Business Association, the North Branch Rotary, the North Branch Lions Club, MinnCo Credit Union, Empire Insurance, Ace Hardware, Lampert Lumber, Gustafson Excavating, Olson Power Equipment and everyone else who donated money to his project.
