The Rush City boys team was 13th out of 21 teams while the girls were 17th at the Section 5A Cross Country Championships at Pierz Golf Course Friday, Oct. 26. Junior Garrett Larson was the first Tiger boy to finish, taking 24th out of 143 competitors with a new PR (personal record) of 17:39.1. Sophomore Kevin Nelson came in 57th with a new PR of 18:40.6, while freshman Ethan Rundquist also created a new PR, placing 60th in 18:43.6. Freshman Devan Larson finished 75th (18:53.6), sophomore Zeth Langworthy 100th (19:47.5), senior Colton Baldwin 101st (19:48.2) and sophomore Mason Stevens 126th (21:14.6). Eighth grader Riley McGough was the first Tiger girl to cross the finish line coming in 84th out of 130 runners with a time of 18:06.2. Junior Sammi Oscarson placed 86th (18:12.1) and sophomore Payton Ramberg 91st (18:26.5). Eighth graders Brooke Necowitsch came in 119th (20:07.1), Elly Johnson 126th (21:51.2) and Lydia Moe 129th (22:57.4), while seventh grader Ella Blazek finished 130th (22.57.9). The 2012 season has ended for the Rush City boys and girls cross country teams, since only the first and second place teams, as well as the top eight individuals that are not a member of the first or second place teams qualifying to advance to the State Championships.
