One middle school teacher’s day ‘made better’

Michelle Trunk and Office Max representative Matt Parrucci.

Each year, teachers spend an average of $1,000 of their own money for classroom supplies. On Oct. 2, representatives of Office Max were at North Branch Area Middle School giving back to teacher Michelle Trunk. Trunk was chosen to take part in Office Max’s “A Day Made Better” program, which saw representatives of the company in a thousand classrooms nationwide.

Trunk received $1,088 in donations for her classroom, all donated by Office Max customers and staff, and North Branch Area Middle School received an additional $1,000 in supplies to be distributed as needed.

Staff at North Branch Area Middle School gathered in the south cafeteria with Office Max staff and surprised Trunk with a bouquet, a new office chair, and tables full of school supplies. Following the surprise, students and staff were able to look over the wealth of school supplies.

This was the sixth year of “A Day Made Better,” and combined with other giving Office Max has contributed more than $18 million in grants and supplies to teachers nationwide.
