RC volleyball falls short at ‘another crack’ at Braham
The season ended for the No. 3 section seeded Rush City volleyball team on Oct. 26 when the girls lost on the road to No. 2 seed McGregor 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-19, 25-19) in the Section 5A east quarterfinal.
Mackenzie Sherrill had 12 kills, two ace serves and 13 digs; Alecia Meier, 11 kills and seven digs; Abby Scherer, 30 digs and one ace serve; and Sierra Shrunk, 18 set assists.
The Tigers served more than 92 percent as a team.
“It was tough to lose tonight, especially since the team’s goal was to get another crack at Braham,” said coach Eric Telander. “We just didn’t have it tonight. It’s really tough to watch especially when you know that this is the end. A couple calls go our way in that last set, who knows what could have been. I don’t think I will be forgetting this match for a while. We are really going to miss our seniors next year: Abby Scherer, Alecia Meier, Kayla Forcier, Mackenzie Sherrill, Sierra Shrunk and Viola Manske all played an important role on this team. Good luck girls as you wrap up your senior year.”
The Rush City volleyball team ended the 2012 season in fourth place in the Great River Conference with an 8-4 record and a 13-12 overall record.
