Fighting Saints earn first win of season

Last week the St. Francis/North Branch girls hockey team — with North Branch skaters Mallory Olson, Erynn Downey, Kaylyn Forliti and Miranda Swanson — defrosted Minnehaha (Concordia Academy-Roseville/DeLaSalle/Minnehaha Academy/St. Agnes/Saint Croix Lutheran) 5-2.
Downey scored an unassisted goal, while Olson contributed an assist in the victory.
The team then fell 2-1 to Sartell/Sauk Rapids and 7-0 to St. Cloud in a tournament last weekend at St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex.
The St. Francis/North Branch girls hockey team has a 1-3 overall record. The Fighting Saints will travel to Superior Ice Arena in Wisconsin to take on the Spartans at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4.
