Mrs. Jean Prudhomme of Rush City died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Rush City. She was 85 years old.
Jean Prudhomme was born to Lorena and Jean (John) Muller Jan. 26, 1927. She grew up with her four sisters behind her dad’s barbershop in Rush City.
Jean was a lifelong devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She married Richard Prudhomme Jan. 25, 1947. Together they had six children.
Jean loved her family greatly. Spending time with them was her favorite pastime. She was very proud of all of her 16 grandchildren. She spent many hours playing games, singing, dancing and on her knees giving horsey rides. The great and great-great grandchildren were a special bonus to her; as she loved kids.
She worked for the Rush City Post Office for 31 years; the last 10 years as postmaster. Her lifelong love of sports was shared with her father. She enjoyed rooting for the home teams, including the Vikings, Twins and Rush City Tigers. The only time she missed a Twins games was for one of her grandkids’ games. She was into social networking long before it was fashionable. Jean was a member of numerous clubs including, two of her favorites were sewing and crocheting clubs. Jean is loved and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her children: Nancy Asp and her husband Brad, of Brooklyn Park; Michele Larson and her husband Mark of Braham, Mark Prudhomme and his wife Debbie of Rush City, Scott Prudhomme and his wife Colleen, of Rockford; Tracie Kuhlman and her husband Glen, of Rush City; and Becky Prudhomme of North Branch; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, sisters: Micky Grothe, of Burnsville; and Helen Laracy, of San Diego, Calif.; many nieces and nephews. Jean is preceded in death by her parents Jean Pierre and Lorena Muller, her husband Richard Prudhomme, sisters Pat Herman and Delores Griggs, and her best friend Bernadette Drevecky.
Fathers Shane Wasinger and Xavier Thelakkatt concelebrated a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Monday (12/3/12) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City with a time of visitation and reviewal one hour prior at the church and Sunday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Olson Chapel in Rush City. A Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday, led by son Mark Prudhomme.
The interment for Jean Prudhomme of Rush City was in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rush City. Casket bearers included: her sons Mark Prudhomme and Scott Prudhomme, grandsons John Larson, Derek Kuhlman, Chad Saloka, and Tyler Carlson. Honorary casket bearers were grandsons Roger Asp, Alex Kuhlman, Jason Asp, Jesse Larson and Jonathon Asp. Music was provided by Cathi Hendren, Mary Jane Dahl and Sally Carlson.
Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Jean Prudhomme are entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service of Rush City, Olson Chapel.
