Tiger girls b-ball team notches pair of victories

The Rush City girls basketball team thrashed conference rivals Pine City and Ogilvie last week.

The Tigers hosted and mauled the Lions, sending them back to Ogilvie with a 70-38 loss.

“The girls started strong again to begin the game and did not look back,” coach Mark Henrich said. “The best thing about the game was that our defense is starting to get better—not where it needs to be yet—but it’s getting better. The other key is that each member of the team is contributing when they get the chance. It is fun to watch.”

Last Friday, the team brought home a 52-28 win over the Dragons.

“Contributions from each player that enters the game is a great attribute to have in a team,” Henrich said. “The girls played a team game against Pine City. I am very proud of how the girls played together, especially on defense.”

The Rush City girls basketball team has a 3-1 Great River Conference and overall record. The Tigers will travel to Moose Lake to face the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20. The team will then host the Foley Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 21.
