On Dec. 18 the Rush City girls basketball team traveled to Wisconsin to fight it out with Frederic.
The teams traded points in the first half, until Rush City caused some turnovers and increased its lead to end the half up 28-22.
The Tigers continued to put the pressure on and increased their lead to about 12 points in the second half. But Frederic did not give up and came within a point with three minutes left in the game.
“A key three-pointer by Abby Scherer bumped the lead to four and free throws by Sammi Herberg secured the (60-54) win,” said coach Mark Henrich. “The girls played well as a team and did not fold under the pressure late in the game.”
The Rush City girls basketball team has a 3-1 Great River Conference and 4-1 overall record. The Tigers will host the Aitkin Gobblers at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 4.
