Can’t outlaw evil, but can outlaw assault weapons

To the editor

We can’t legislate to outlaw evil; but we can outlaw assault rifles and semi-automatics to help close opportunities for massacres in schools, churches and malls. Such military weapons are not meant for protection … they’re meant for annihilation.

The NRA proposes armed guards in every school. However, I imagine a pistol is not enough arming for guards to protect students. Heck no, if we continue down the present path we’ll have to give them assault weapons … fight with fire, right? Now there’s more tragedy waiting to happen.

America’s got the loosest gun laws in the world. How many innocents must we murder before we’re willing to tighten the laws? Can’t we at least agree to ban military assault weapons?
