There was a changing of the guard at the Monday night North Branch City Council meeting.
Former council member Ron Lindquist took his oath of office as mayor, council member Theresa was sworn in for another term and new council member Joyce Borchardt joined the council.
Due to Lindquist winning the mayor’s seat, his former council post is now vacant. Since that council term expires in slightly less than two years, state statue allows the city to take applications and appoint for the position.
The council is planning to interview candidates at its Feb. 7 meeting, and appoint its selected candidate at the Feb. 11 regular meeting.
