RC boys basketball dominates East Central
The Tigers pounced on East Central as soon as the team stepped on the court last week and didn’t let up the entire game.
In its only game played last week, the Rush City boys basketball team beat East Central 76-41.
The Tigers led 49-24 at the half.
“We came out shooting the ball pretty well in the first half,” coach Jeremy Albright said. “Brandon Koehnle led the charge with five three-pointers in that half.”
Ball movement was key for the smooth Tiger offense.
“Overall, we did a good job of moving the ball and cutting to the basket,” Albright said. “We gave up too much on defense in the first half, but the boys did a much better job in the second half of holding East Central down.”
Albright noted Jan. 24 will be the team’s first “Whit Out the Gym” fundraiser for Coaches Versus Cancer.
“We are hoping that all Rush City fans will wear white that night to “white out the gym,” Albright said. “The team had been selling t-shirts to raise money for the event, but if you were unable to purchase one, wear a white shirt anyway.”
The game at Isle scheduled Jan. 11 was postponed and rescheduled for Feb. 4.
The Rush City boys basketball team is fourth in the Great River Conference and has a 4-2 conference and 5-4 overall record. The Tigers will host the Onamia Panthers (6-4) at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18 before hosting the Braham Bombers (10-2) at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 24.
