Response to Ring letter

to the editor

Instead of encouraging bans on rifles to save more lives, perhaps Ms. Ring would like us to consider outlawing hammers and clubs. According to the FBI, 3,087 people were killed from 2005 to 2009 using one of those items as weapon.

Perhaps we could consider saving even more lives by putting a ban on body parts. During this same time period, 4291 were killed with these personal weapons. So what about these evil rifles, well they do not break down specific types of rifles, but if we include all rifles they say that in the given time span, 2,064 people lost their lives when a rifle of any type was used.

It looks like there are other items that we need to ban to save even more lives before we look to ban rifles.
