Catholic Charities partners with Oak Inn in new senior dining concept

A new concept in senior dining is about to take shape in North Branch.

Catholic Charities Senior Dining, The Oak Inn Restaurant and Associated Bank have formed a partnership to ensure at least one hot, nutritious meal is available to all seniors, age 60 and better, every day. Meals will be available at The Oak Inn beginning Feb 1.

“We are excited to partner with The Oak Inn Restaurant and the Associated Bank on this new concept,” said Ruth Hunstiger, director of Catholic Charities Senior Dining. “At the same time, we are pleased to be able to continue our current Meals on Wheels Service, uninterrupted. Our studies show many seniors rely on these type of programs, and we’re honored we can continue to provide them in North Branch.”

To reiterate, current Meals on Wheels service will continue unchanged; those needing that service should call 320-358-3611.

Those who wish to dine at The Oak Inn as part of the Senior Dining Program will need to obtain meal tickets in advance at Associated Bank in North Branch. Tickets will be available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a suggested contribution of $3.50- $7 each.

No one will be denied a meal based on their inability to pay the suggested contribution. Eligible diners (age 60 or better) can obtain as many meal tickets as they would like at one time. New diners will be asked to complete a Catholic Charities Senior Dining registration form to participate in the program and annually thereafter.

Meals will be available at The Oak Inn Restaurant seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Diners with meal tickets should ask for the Senior Dining/Diner’s Club menu. The Senior Dining Menu will consist of six breakfast options available from 7-11 a.m. and 12 lunch and dinner options from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

All menu selections will consist of at least one-third of the required daily nutrients and calories needed for individuals over age 60. Milk, coffee and dessert will be included with each meal. Gratuities or other beverages will not be included. Diners will present signed and dated meal tickets to servers as payment for their meals.

Catholic Charities Senior Dining is partially funded under contract with the Central Minnesota Council on Aging as part of the Older American Act and administered by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud. For more information, call 320-229-4584.
