Pen pals, volunteers needed at RC school

C.E. Jacobson Elementary School in Rush City is looking for people to be pen pals with elementary students during “I Love to Read Month” in February 2013.

Under this four-week program, letters can be sent via email or snail mail. MRC volunteer coordinator Julie Parent will read all the letters to make sure the content is appropriate. Pen pals will receive an invitation to meet during the “I Love to Read Month” closing ceremonies (time and date in March to be determined.)

Pen pals can obtain and read the same books their students are reading, or they can simply ask questions about the books. Pals also can tell the students what they like to read and a little bit about themselves.

For questions and to access a sign-up form, contact Julie Parent at 320-358-4724, ext. 383, or jparent@rushcity.k12.mn.us. Forms must be returned by Monday, Jan. 28, to: Julie Parent, AmeriCorps-Reading, C.E. Jacobson, 95 S. Harte Ave., PO box 566, Rush City, MN 55069.
