Vikettes compete in tough invite
The Vikettes dance teams participated in an invitational at Totino-Grace High School in Fridley last Saturday.
The varsity jazz team placed 12th in a field of 14 teams, while varsity kick placed 13th out of 16 teams. Chaska took first in the kick competition, where Sartell was second and Totino-Grace third.
In jazz competition, Sartell placed first, Totino-Grace second, and Simley third.
The junior varsity jazz team competed for the last time this season and finished ninth in a field of 10 teams after coming out at the bottom of a tie-breaker with Pequot Lakes.
“This invite had many teams that qualify for the state tournament so it was a tough one,” said Coach Marie Ray. “We had improvement in our kick scores and I was especially happy to see our execution scores jump so high. We have been working really hard on that in practice. We will continue to push our routines to be the very best and peak when we host the Section tournament.”
The North Branch dance teams will host the Section 2AA Championships beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.
