The Dragons lit up the ice with a scoring barrage last week.

When the North Branch boys hockey team traveled to Pine City to face the rival Pine City/Rush City boys hockey team — with Rush City team members Jake Kleinsasser, Conner Werner, Coltin Malchow, Blake Cook and Matt Haglund — the Dragons beat Vikings for the second time this season.

Kleinsasser scored a goal and made an assist to aid in the team’s 8-5 victory.

Last Friday, the team traveled to Minneapolis (Minneapolis Edison/Roosevelt/South/North/Patrick Henry/Southwest/Washburn/Minnesota Transitions Charter) and lost 12-2 to the Novas.

Malchow made an assist for the Dragons.

Individual stats are posted on Scoreboard Plus on the ECM Post Review’s website.

The Pine City/Rush City boys hockey team is fourth in the Two Rivers Conference with a 3-4 conference and 4-13 overall record. The Dragons will host the Moose Lake Area (Barnum/Cromwell, Moose Lake/Finlayson/East Central/Willow River) Rebels (0-17) at Pine City Arena 7 p.m. Feb. 1, before hosting the WSFLG (Webster/Siren/Frederic/Luck/Grantsburg) Blizzard (11-7-1) 7 p.m. Feb. 5.
