The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has released its fall 2012 semester dean’s list honoring 1,414 students. Local students who made the list include: ALEX SUNDLY, of Harris, majoring in broad field social studies; SARA FLETCHER, of North Branch, majoring in English; ALEXA BERTHIAUME, of Harris, majoring in elementary education; MIRANDA CHRISTENSON, of North Branch, majoring in broad field science; KASANDRA KIESTER, of North Branch, majoring in elementary education; BLAKE DEGERSTROM, of North Branch, majoring in marketing communications; and MELISSA NELSON, of Stacy, majoring in mathematics.
RACHEL BALZAR, ANDREW LUNDQUIST and MARKKI MEYER, all of North Branch, have been named to the University of Minnesota, Morris dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester.
Globe University and Minnesota School of Business has announced the recipients of its 10 annual awards for Youth Frontiers character-building retreats at high schools in Minnesota and Wisconsin. One of the winning schools is NORTH BRANCH AREA HIGH SCHOOL, associated with the Minnesota School of Business-Blaine campus. The 10 retreats for high school juniors and seniors are valued at nearly $40,000. “The essays the high schools submit as part of the application packages were difficult to judge because most were of exceptional quality,” said Mindy Myhre, director of charitable giving for the career college network. “We’re pleased that area high schools see the value of these wonderful character-building and anti-bullying retreats led by Youth Frontiers’ staff.”
Jamestown College in North Dakota has released some track and field and cross country news of local interest. MIRANDA CHARLEY, of North Branch, was one of 13 Jimmies who earned a place on the college’s dean’s list and one of five who scored a perfect 4.0 grade point average during the recently completed fall semester. She is a junior in the nursing program and “one of the most meticulous students on our team,” said her coach Jim Clark.
BRITTNEY MARIE HEIN, of Rush City, graduated with honors during fall 2012 semester at North Dakota State University. A sociology major, she received her Bachelor of Science degree.
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has named the following undergraduate students from the area to its deans’ lists for the 2012 fall semester: CHAD FUERSTENBERG, of North Branch, College of Arts and Sciences, and SAMANTHA HODGES, of Stacy, College of Education and Human Sciences.
ELLIOT LARSON, of Stacy, was named to the 2012 fall semester dean’s list at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
The following students have been named to the fall 2012 dean’s list at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn.: ALEXANDRA ILLG, of Stacy, a senior majoring in exercise physiology; NICHOLAS LAMBRECHT, of Stacy, a senior majoring in biology; and ZACHARY MATTSON, of North Branch, a junior majoring in biology.
EMILY ZIEGLER, of North Branch, a biochemistry major, has been named to the dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for the fall semester of the 2012-13 academic year, ending December 2012.
