The North Branch wrestling team couldn’t take advantage of home mat advantage last Thursday when the boys lost 42-33 to Chisago Lakes.

Still, Reid Johnson, Jake Pilz, Zack Sundly and Eric Bergstrom all won by pin, while Levi Eastwood and Arik Steele were victorious by decision and forfeit, respectively. Sundly and Johnson are both ranked 10th in the state in their respective weight classes.

Meanwhile, Seamus Hunter had his 13 pins in a row streak spoiled by a Wildcats wrestler who is ranked No. 4 in the state.

The Viking grapplers are at the top of the North Suburban Conference with 24 points and a 6-2 record, followed by No. 12 Totino-Grace with 16 points and an 8-0 record. Next, the boys will travel to face the Totino-Grace Eagles at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, before hosting the Section 7AA Team Championship preliminaries and quarterfinals beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12.
