RC skaters sizzle in shutout over Rebels

After losing 6-4 to Becker/Big Lake, senior forward Jake Kleinsasser along with Rush City teammates Conner Werner, Coltin Malchow, Blake Cook and Matt Haglund froze out Moose Lake Area 10-0.

Kleinsasser was hot, scoring one goal and making two assists against Moose Lake Area (Barnum/Cromwell, Moose Lake/Finlayson/East Central/Willow River) and two goals at Becker/Big Lake.

Also contributing against the Rebels was Werner, with a goal and an assist, while Malchow registered an assist of his own in the Eagles game.

The Pine City/Rush City boys hockey team is fourth in the Two Rivers Conference with a 4-4 record and 5-14 overall. Next, the Dragons will face the 10-9-1 Cook County/Silver Bay (Wm. Kelley)/Two Harbors North Shore at Lake County Arena in Two Harbors at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. The boys then head off to Sports Arena East in Sauk Rapids to face the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm (6-13-1) at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12.
