The Rush City/Pine City/Hinckley-Finlayson (RC/PC/HF) girls gymnastic team totaled 137.95 points to earn the Section Championship at the Section 4A Championships at Chisago Lakes High School Tuesday, Feb. 12. The team will be advancing to state competition. Only the first place team and top four finishers in each event, as well as top four all-around qualify to advance to the State Championships. Individuals sophomore Bailey Murawski (RC), junior Kylee Berube (PC), and senior Cassidy Dunkley (HF) will advance individually. Murawski took second on the balance beam, as well as fourth on vault and all-around. Berube placed fourth on uneven bars and beam. Dunkley took second on vault and floor exercise, as well as third on bars and all-around. Murawski also placed sixth on floor and eighth on bars. Berube also place fifth on floor. Senior Alecia Meier (RC) placed fifth on beam and seventh all-around. Sophomore Katelyn Meier (RC) came in seventh on the vault, and senior Kayla Forcier (RC) finished eighth on the vault. The team also earned the Gold Award for Academics. The State High School Girls Gymnastics Class A Championships will be held at University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion with the Team Championship beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22 and the Individual Championships beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.
