Gladys V. Torell (nee Peterson), 91, of rural Harris, died Feb. 15, 2013 at the Ecumen Parmly Lifepointes residence in Chisago City.
Gladys was born July 5, 1921 in Fish Lake Township to parents Charles and Victoria (Swanson) Peterson. She was baptized, confirmed and was a lifelong member of Fish Lake Lutheran Church. In May of 1945, she married Roy Amschler and to this union one son, Ronald, was born. In September of 1950, she was united in marriage to Harry Torell and daughter Linda was born. Gladys worked at the Cambridge Woolen Mills and later in life she cleaned homes in North Oaks.
Gladys is survived by her son, Ron (Ilene) Amschler, of North Branch; daughter, Linda Lindsey, of Hopkins; her four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Viola Peterson and several nieces and nephews She is preceded in death by her husbands, Roy and Harry; parents, three brothers, Virgil, Chester and Rev. Clarence Peterson and one sister-in-law, Geraldine Peterson.
Memorial services were held 11 a.m. Feb. 20, 2013 at the Fish Lake Lutheran Church at Fish Lake with Rev. Dale Stiles officiating. LaDonna Olson and Jon Ekstrom provided music. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fish Lake Lutheran Cemetery.
