After 12 grueling hours and running on fumes, the North Branch Vikings Volleyball Junior Olympic Girls 13U Red Team took home the gold at the 23rd Annual Presidents Day Tournament at Spring Lake Park High School Feb 16-17.

About 630 teams in seven age groups played in the tournament.

Saturday, the ladies had a slow start and went 1-2 in matches. Sunday, they went 6-0, taking the gold medal in their division. The Vikings won their first five matches on Sunday in two sets each, only needing a third set for the championship match.

The Vikings beat Cambridge, Fridley, Elk River, and then topped Wayzata in the third set of the final match 15-11.
