In 2012, the MSHSL sponsored the first state championship. The top 30 teams out of 180 in Minnesota are selected to participate in this event. Team Leader Becky Leuer said, “We are so excited to qualify for this event. Minnesota is the only state that has a state championship sponsored by their high school activities association. The kids worked hard all season and built a quality robot.”

The team qualified based on their performance at the 10,000 Lakes Regional where they were eliminated in the semi-finals on a tiebreaker.

“We figure we were third out of 64 teams at the regional based on the fact we scored more points against the winning alliance than any of the other teams in the semifinals. We are pleased to have performed so well and represent our communities and St. Jude Medical Foundation with a championship caliber robot,” commented Mentor Scott Frischmon.

The team has eight hours to work on their robot in the next three weeks.  The MSHSL State Championships are a one-day event.
