Alaska mission Sunday at Immanuel

On April 28, Immanuel Lutheran Church, 37515 Park Trail, Almelund, will observe a Mission Sunday centered around JoAnn Nielsen’s ninth mission trip to Fort Yukon, a tiny village in Northern Alaska located on the Yukon River, reachable by small bush planes.  This will take place at the morning worship service at 9:30 a.m.

This is the 11th year Nielsen has answered the call to volunteer her time to travel to remote villages in Alaska.  She also served in Ruby and Galena, Alaska, before going to Ft. Yukon.

This year the mission trip team, along with five volunteers from the North Carolina, will help in remodeling the Mission House and Parish Hall of St. Stephen’s Church.  Both buildings are no longer safe to live in.

JoAnn will leave June 23, and return home approximately two weeks later.
