On May 16 the North Branch girls track and field team brought home the North Suburban Conference Championship trophy.
The team racked up 115.5 points to place ahead of Benilde-St Margaret’s (114), St. Francis (113), Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony (88), Irondale (71.5), Chisago Lakes (71.5), St. Louis Park (51), Totino-Grace (35), Fridley (14), Robbinsdale Cooper (12.5) and Columbia Heights (11).
Sherahlynn Linkert took first and earned a place on the Minnesota High School Honor roll in both the 100m and 300m hurdles at St. Francis High School.
Rhianna Rinke won both the 1600m and 3200m to earn a place on the Honor roll in both events.
Also earning first and Honor Roll status were Mikayla Johnson in the pole vault and the 4x200m relay team.
Coming in second and earning Honor Roll status were Madison Kunshier in the 400m dash, Katie Burnside in pole vault and the 4x400m relay team.
Rounding out the top three was Crystal Snaza who placed third in the discus throw.
The Viking boys team accumulated 28 points to finish 11th, behind Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony (135.7), Irondale (113), St. Francis (86), St. Louis Park (76), Fridley (70), Robbinsdale Cooper (66), Chisago Lakes (35), Benilde-St. Margaret’s (30), Columbia Heights (29) and Totino-Grace (28.3).
Placing in the top three was Levi Kolke who took second in the 400m dash while earning a place on the Honor Roll.
Last Saturday the Viking girls tallied up 269.5 to come in eighth at the State True Team Meet in Stillwater, ahead of Minneapolis Washburn (131.5) and behind Sartell-St. Stephens (417), Totino-Grace (392), Willmar (387.5), Detroit Lakes (349), Waconia (342.5), Plainview-Elgin Millville (335.5) and Mankato East (282.5).
