Learn to avoid injuries at safety camp

A free, one-day safety camp July 18, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., for area youth is planned at Camp Ojiketa in Chisago City.

The Lakes Area Police Department, the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office, Lakes Region EMS, Chisago County Public Health, Farmers Insurance, St. Croix regional medical center and Fairview Lakes Medical Center sponsor the camp.

The camp, taught by those who respond to injury-related incidents, is designed to teach children how to stay safe in a variety of situations with the goal of reducing the number of injuries that occur every year.

Children who have completed third through fifth grade can attend the camp.

Campers will need to bring a bag lunch.

Pre-registration is required and limited to 100 participants. Priority will be given to Chisago Lakes and North Branch school district families until June 15.
