After losing in its last three regular season games (Columbia Heights 0-7, Chisago Lakes 0-7, Princeton 3-4) the Viking boys tennis team and individuals competed in section competition last week.
In the first round of section play May 20, the No. 7 section seed North Branch fell 7-0 to No. 2 seeded Chisago Lakes to end the boys’ season as a team.
On Thursday individual section preliminaries were held at St. Francis where no player qualified to continue.
In North Branch singles action, No. 12 seed Newell Fisk fell 6-0, 6-0 to the No. 5 Chisago Lakes seed, while No. 13 Grant Hyslop lost in similar fashion to the No. 4 St. Francis seed.
In doubles No. 13 seeded Jake Helbig and Tony Turitto lost 6-2, 6-1 to the No. 4 seeded Elk River team. Seeded No. 11, Tim Courtright and Conner Martineau fell 6-2, 6-2 to the No. 6 Forest Lake team.
This concludes the season for the North Branch boys tennis team, which went 0-7 in the North Suburban Conference and 0-11 overall.
