NBAPS approved for four-day week in 2013-14

The North Branch school district last week received notice from the state commissioner of education that its  application to continue with a four-day school week has been approved for the 2013-14 school year. The commissioner recommended that due to new funding that will be available to the school district in 2014-15, strong consideration be given to a return to a five-day week schedule in the fall of 2014.

This year’s Legislature made substantial changes to funding formulas that can bring new revenue to North Branch Area Public Schools that will begin to close the opportunity gap.

North Branch schools is still reviewing information about the new funding, but all indications show that its financial situation will be significantly improved in the 2014-15 school year. Additional information will be released as further details become available.
