Changes at the senior center

To the editor

The Chisago County Board on Aging, which operates the Chisago County Senior Center, wishes to inform all interested persons of changes currently happening at the center.

We have increased the size of the board to 13 active members. The board is in the process of amending and updating our by-laws, which have been in place and largely unchanged since 1996. The senior center and office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The senior center does remain available for use during other hours. Please contact the office if you are looking for a space to rent. Rental of the dining room including the strip kitchen is $60. The activity room rents for $40, and the training room rents for $25.

Our financial status is unstable at the moment, so we welcome and greatly appreciate any donations. We are currently staffed by dedicated volunteers. Therefore, 100 percent of donations will be used to keep the center operating—paying utilities, buying supplies and mainly providing service to the community. We welcome and would greatly appreciate your volunteer time and talents, donations and suggestions for future activities.

We have a monthly newsletter with a schedule of activities and other information. We would be glad to send this to you for a subscription price of $12 per year.

We wish to recognize and thank Dawn Cash and Jessica Cash for their years of hard work and devotion to the senior center as well as our gratitude to them for their help and cooperation during the transition from paid staff to volunteers.

We invite all to visit the center. It is a wonderful facility, and we hope to be able to use it for a long time.

Our phone number is 651-674-8658. Our address is 38790 6th Ave., North Branch. We are located in the Ecumen Uptown Maple Commons building. If you visit, please use the main door on the east side of the building near the parking lot.
