As a young girl she joined Jobs Daughters, becoming Honored Queen; she later joined the Richfield Chapter of the Eastern Star, eventually holding the office of Worthy Matron. Betty was a home food tester for Betty Crocker. Central in her life were her faith and church; she also loved keeping in touch with family and friends, cooking and baking, making sure everyone had enough to eat when visiting, playing the organ and the color purple.
