Team 3038 takes first place in electrical
The North Branch-Chisago Lakes FIRST robotics team 3038 showcased their work at the Minnesota State Fair on Monday, Aug. 26.
Team 3038 competed in three frisbee-shooting challenges, a parking exercise and a game of tag against Isanti-County 4-H and Eagan High School, and topped both with 61 points. Isanti earned 51, while Eagan recorded 47 points.
While the North Branch-Chisago Lakes squad did not qualify for the finals on Monday, Team 3038 placed first in the electrical category. Thirty-three teams competed at the fair with opportunities to enter two categories of judging: electrical and engineering.
Volunteer mentors Becky Leuer and Scott Frischmon accompanied 12 representatives of Team 3038 to the state fair and said, despite the extreme heat, the kids had a blast.
“We got to walk in the parade,” Leuer said, chuckling. “So mark that one of your bucket list—we got to walk in the state fair parade.”
The mentors also said they received renewed funding from St. Jude Medical Foundation for another year and welcome new members to join in the preseason organizational meetings this September. Contact Leuer at [email protected] for more information.
