Another fire, possibly by arson, has occurred near Rush City.
The Rush City Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire around 6 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, on County Road 7, just west of Dogwood Avenue, in Nessel Township. The vehicle, a 1999 Mercury Mystique, had been listed for sale, and “we believe it (the fire) to be intentionally set,” Fire Chief Bob Carlson said Monday.
“It’s getting serious,” he said, a week after responding to two arson-suspected grass fires in the area. “If people see something suspicious out there or out of the ordinary, call 911. We want it stopped.”
Anyone with information on who is responsible can be rewarded up to $2,500 and remain anonymous. Calls also can be made to the arson hotline at 651-257-4100. The State Fire Marshal Division has joined local authorities in the investigation.
