NB girls fall to Knights on Senior Night
The North Branch volleyball Vikings split last week, winning over St. Francis in four sets 22-25, 25-14, 25-16 and 25-15 before falling in three to St. Michael-Albertville at home.
In the 3-1 win over the Fighting Saints on the road, the Vikings proved their prior 2-0 win over St. Francis, who is 7-8 on the season, at the Shakopee Invite earlier this month with a team effort by North Branch.
Sophomore outside hitter Courtney Selbitschka led the offense with 24 kills and anchored the defense with 22 digs.
Senior Ceyerra Kraemer recorded 10 kills and one block while juniors Katy Trunk and Maddy Kunshier each added six kills. Kunshier also earned 17 digs and two aces while Trunk added six blocks.
Sophomore setter Morgen Coleman recorded 31 set assists on the night and earned five kills. Junior Hannah Hubbard added four blocks in right front row.
Two days later, the Vikings hosted St. Michael-Albertville on North Branch volleyball Senior Night, honoring Kraemer and libero Cassie Doer.
But the jubilation would end there as the Knights swept the Vikings and improved their Mississippi Eight Conference record to 4-0.
St. Michael-Albertville is tied for first in the conference with Buffalo, which North Branch faced on Tuesday, Oct. 1 on the road.
The Vikings are currently 9-2 overall and hosted Rogers on Tuesday. Next, North Branch travels to Totino-Grace for a 7 p.m. game Thursday, Sept. 26.
