NB XC heads to Hudson

The North Branch boys and girls cross country team traveled to the Hudson Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 24. This was the Vikings’ third race in one week, and North Branch struggled to keep afloat between injuries and illness. The Viking girls took fifth place with a score of 127, while the boys placed 10th. Leading the girl’s team were sophomore Rhianna Rinke (16:23.2 for 10th place of 60), Casey Hovland (16:35.4 for 11th place), and Madison Belland (17:24.3 for 23rd), while the boys were led by senior Kyle Granger (19:20 for 35th place of 69), senior Noah Hubbard and junior Cole Willis.

RC races at  St. John’s Prep

The Rush City girls cross country team placed 10th of 11 teams at the Fr. Otto Weber Cross Country Invitational at St. John’s Prep. The Tiger boys placed eighth of 11. Next, the Tigers travel to Duluth for the Swain Meet on Saturday, Oct. 5, starting at 10 a.m.

NB girls soccer

The Viking girls soccer team hit a rough streak on the road last week. North Branch fell 4-0 to St. Michael-Albertville last Tuesday, then fell 8-0 to Rogers two days later. The Vikings also suffered a 10-0 loss to Duluth Denfeld over the weekend, bringing the squad’s overall record to 3-10-1. Next, North Branch finished up its regular season against Monticello at 5 p.m.

NB boys soccer

The North Branch boys soccer team dropped two games last week, falling 7-2 to St. Michael-Albertville on the road last Tuesday and 4-1 to Rogers at home last Thursday. The Vikings are now 2-11-1 overall and host Monticello in its final regular-season game at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3.

NB girls tennis

The Vikings fell 0-7 to both Monticello and Chisago Lakes last week, bringing the squad’s overall dual-match record to 2-13 on the season.
