Phyllis Ries

Phyllis A. Ries went to be with The Lord on September 29, 2013. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Elmie and Bill Seaberg on February 2, 1926. She was married to Ortwin Ries in 1944 and traveled with him while he was in the Army. They settled in Minneapolis, where their four children were born. Her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by her children Cheryl Kopp (John), Gary (Sandra), Richard (Julie), and Ken (Amy); her sister Twyla Ring (Ardell); seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Phyllis owned a beautiful gift shop in Door County for several years. She loved art and was an award-winning painter. She also loved spending time with her family, driving her sporty yellow car, reading, dressing up, and learning about new things. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her family and loved their visits.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch with Rev. Gary Guptill and Rev. Gary Ries officiating. Music was provided by LaDonna Olson as organist and Ken Reis and Twyla Ring serving as soloists. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Interment followed the service at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers were Marc Ries, Eric Ries, Adam Ries, Rebekah Ries, Elizabeth Ries and Christopher Kopp.
