Tigers earn fourth seed

The Tiger volleyball team notched another win Oct. 15, defeating Ogilvie in a clean three-set sweep on the road.

The victory put the Tigers at 13-9 to close the regular season and was also the third win for Rush City’s last four games.

Leading the Tigers was sophomore Summer Garr with 11 kills, six digs and two aces. Fellow outside hitter and senior Jessica Bottomley recorded six kills and seven digs, while junior middle hitter Kayla Nelson added six kills and three blocks.

Sophomore setter Sydnie Sybrant put up 15 set assists, four digs and one ace, while senior Taylor Youngblom earned nine set assists, four digs and three aces.

Sophomore libero Sammie Herberg led the defense with 10 digs and one ace. Junior Taniel Shellbach recorded three kills, while senior middle hitter Alissa Mell and sophomore Lindsey Williams each added two kills in the effort.

With a Great River Conference record of 8-4, the Tigers finished fourth in the conference behind Braham (12-0), Aitkin (9-2) and Onamia (9-2).

Heading into postseason play, Rush City earned the fourth seed in the north division of Section 5AA. They will host fifth-seeded Milaca at 7 p.m. Oct. 24.
