girls fall to Buffalo

The St. Francis/North Branch girls hockey team dropped a home game over the weekend to Buffalo. The Fighting Saints lost 8-2 in its fourth game of the season. St. Francis/North Branch is 1-3, and traveled to Fogerty Arena to face Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony Village on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Next, the Fighting Saints hit the road for a four-team tournament in St. Cloud on Friday, Nov. 29. Times are to be determined.

NB hockey boys defeat

Pine City/Rush City

The North Branch boys hockey team won its season opener over Pine City/Rush City, 6-2, last Friday. Senior Joey Courtright scored two goals for the Vikings in the first period, while Ryan Byrkit, Nate Runberg, Brandon Waldo and Colton Danks each recorded one goal. Courtright also earned two assists on the night. North Branch hosted Richfield in Lindstrom on Monday night and face St. Paul Como Park at the State Fairgrounds Coliseum at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Tiger basketball falls in close game

The Rush City boys basketball team fell by just two points, 60-58, in its season opener to St. John’s Prep on the road on Friday night. Next, the Tigers travel to Pine City on Tuesday, Dec. 3 for a 7:30 p.m. game.
