Garry Lee Johnson, 78, of North Branch passed away Dec. 13, 2013, at home with his family by his side. Garry was born Oct. 30, 1935, to Oscar and Alice Johnson and was a lifetime resident of North Branch. On July 31, 1959, Garry married Kay Anderson and together they raised six children. Garry was honorably discharged as a member of the Air Force. He was fond of his days as a school bus driver after retirement from DoBoy Industries. Garry was babtized, confirmed, and married at the Lutheran church in North Branch. Lifelong hobbies included hunting, fishing, enjoying the outdoors, golfing, and woodworking. Garry could always be found having coffee with the guys at the bakery, and he was known for making those around him laugh with his joking and teasing. Most of all, his favorite role was being a grandpa to his loving grandchildren.
Garry is survived by his wife, Kay; children, Kelly (Jeff) Bistodeau, Karri Johnson Carpenter, Garry Lee Jr., Kim West (Cathy), Jackie (Rick) Maitrejean, and Nichole Johnson (Brian); 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, James (Bonnie) Johnson; sister, Florence La Plante; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lloyd and Roger; sister, Betty Jo Heilig; and granddaughter Shaunessy Kay Jean Carpenter.
The family will hold the burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery and a celebration of life at a later date in the spring.
