To the editor:
I recently visited the Pine County History Museum in Askov Minnesota, just off Minnesota 23 — the scenic road to Duluth. I would encourage anyone heading up north for a weekend or a visit to take Minnesota 23 and stop by the museum in Askov.
It’s in the old H C Andersen Middle School — which is huge — and it’s just full of the history of Pine County and our pioneering forefathers. From lumbering, farming, the Sandstone quarry, pioneer life to a Main Street replica, this museum will keep you enthralled for hours.
If you get hungry, there’s The Little Mermaid Café right inside the museum with good food at reasonable prices.
Hours of operation for the museum and café are available on their website at www.pinecountyhistorymuseum.org; this is truly a gem of a place to visit at a reasonable price to take a walk back in history. Happy Holidays!
