Society plans event for family history seekers

For those interested in their family’s history but don’t know where to start, check out the Chisago County Historical Society Research Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Tuesday.

Another option is joining the Society for a free and open meeting Friday, Feb. 28 at its research center, located three blocks north of Hwy. 8 at 13112 Third Ave.N. in Lindstrom. The entrance is on the lower level.

At 7 p.m., take a tour of the CCHS history collection. Meet others who are interested in forming a genealogical group or just come for the tour and treats.

The main program begins at 8 p.m. and focuses on using Ancestry.com. Also, find the answers to these questions: What exactly is ancestry, and what data is on this website that we hear so much about?

Future classroom sessions include Scandinavian genealogy and the digital age at 7 p.m., March 14, and European genealogy and digitalized records at 7 p.m., April 4.

Registration is required for these two sessions. Each session is free for current CCHS members and $10 each for non-members.

More information on topics for future sessions and costs will be posted at www.chisagocountyhistory.org and can be found in local newspapers. Questions? Call 651-257-5310 or email chisagohistory@frontiernet.net.
